Abstract

The implementation of the Independent Curriculum (Kumer) in Indonesia is an effort to improve education quality relevant to 21st-century needs. This study aims to analyze the challenges and opportunities of implementing the Independent Curriculum as a strategic step toward achieving quality education. This research adopts a qualitative descriptive approach through literature review, analyzing official documents, previous studies, and field practices. The findings reveal that the main challenges include teacher readiness, limited infrastructure, and regional disparities. However, opportunities include enhancing student and teacher creativity, aligning learning with future needs, and fostering collaboration with industries. These findings underscore the necessity of comprehensive implementation strategies, including continuous teacher training, infrastructure strengthening, and community-based approaches. Thus, the Independent Curriculum has the potential to become a major driver for achieving inclusive and quality education in Indonesia.
